Always feed your passions; what could be better than that?

"Do you get paid?" "What's the point?" "Why waste your time?"

If you haven't been asked that before, I can only ask, "Do you even blog, bro?"

Joking aside, I have lost track of the amount of times I have been either asked that or even asked someone else. Of course the answers are: "No""IDK""Because I enjoys it, Mama". I write because I love to write, and I mainly write about technology because that is what I am passionate about. HardwYred doesn't generate income (yet), and it certainly doesn't stand up to The Verge, Engadget, CNET, etc. Oh well.

Maybe one day it will be as big as them, or possibly, it could lead to a job with one of them. Even if it doesn't, I will still continue it. I may never reach the audience that they do nor have the readership that they do; for what it's worth, my wife does not even read it but that has more to do with content than authorship (her words).

If everyone just quit when something wasn't working right away, the world would be a much different place. I am not against quitting something when it no longer fills you with joy. I have heard parents say over and over again that their kids will not quit something because "they made a commitment". That may be true, but if my future kid sucks at the piano and finds no enjoyment in it, you can bet that they certainly will not have to go to another lesson. However, at the same time, if my kid loves something, regardless of talent, I will absolutely encourage them to go for it.

There is nothing more gratifying than doing something you are truly passionate about. Be it golf, writing, photography, or stamp-collecting, do what you love. Feed your passion and encourage others to do the same; the world will be a much better place for it.
