Google's Digital Wellbeing Dashboard

Google's Digital Wellbeing features are now available for all Pixels and Android One devices.

Announced early this year, Google's Digital Wellbeing is designed to help you monitor your device and media usage; the idea is that your time on these devices will be well spent and minimal. Much like Apple's Screen Time dashboard, these features come at a time when "cell-phone addiction" and "hooked on technology" are the buzz phrases of the year.

In the Digital Wellbeing settings, users can set regulations and restrictions on their own (or others devices) that will help them put their phone rather than exercise self-control and just physically put the device down. The dashboard will show how much time users spend on each app to determine where their troublesome areas are. From there, users can set time restrictions or use restrictions on the apps; if you run out of the time, the app shortcut will be grayed out and unusable until you enter the dashboard and remove the restrictions. In addition, Digital Wellbeing includes the "Wind Down" feature which dials down notifications and dims the display to grey-scale to make it easier on the eyes before bed.

The new features should be available now from the Play Store via the Digital Wellbeing app. For those already using the beta, the app should update automatically to remove the beta label.
