Pixel prices staying down

It's 2022 with record high inflation which means if something doesn't go up in price, we need to celebrate. After Apple and Samsung bucked the rumors and kept domestic prices for both the new iPhone and new Galaxy (respectively) the same as 2021, it looks like Google is set to follow the trend.

Founder of Android Police Artem Russakovskii tweeted today that Pixel 7 and 7 Pro prices will remain the same as their predecessor. For those unfamiliar with Pixel pricing, that would put the base 7 at $599 while the 7 Pro would come in at $899.

While this is still just rumor, Russakovskii seems very confident in his source, and Google would certainly standout in a bad way if they opted to raise prices. Pixel phones remain quite lower in price than their competitors so a price increase would certainly not make them more expensive. However, for a phone that has consistently struggled with sales, any publicity that makes them look negative would certainly not help sales after competitors maintained prices.

We will see how this plays out next month at launch time.
