iPhone 14 - Should you upgrade? It's complicated

With the release of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, a lot of people are wondering if it is time to upgrade. The answer is: it’s complicated.

If you are on an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13, I would say the answer is no. The iPhone 14 offers very little to make it worthy of an upgrade other the iPhone 12 notch is wider, and the iPhone 14 may be more future proof? As for Pro users, that is a tough one. Will you experience a drastic change from 13 Pro/Max to a 14 Pro/Max? Not really. Obviously, the camera is a significant upgrade, but the 13 Pro was pretty great already. Action Mode is neat, but it is kind of a niche thing. Dynamic Island is an awesome idea, but it is at least 6 months away from real, practical use. Always-on Display is a great future for what I believe to me a minority of users that actually want it.

All-in-all, there is nothing truly significant driving an upgrade unless you are holding on to an iPhone 12 or less or if you are looking to make vertical upgrades (Regular-to-Pro, Mini-to-Plus, etc.) AND, if you are really excited about Dynamic Island, rumors are indicating that all iPhone 15 models will have the feature so hang tight!
