At the height of the notch craze, every manufacturer was trying to show that their notch was better on the phone than others. However, most knew that the notch was only temporary as manufacturers sought for the ultimate goal of an all-screen phone while maintaining a front-facing camera. Novel approaches such as the slider camera or pop-up camera were deemed too gimmicky and ante-screen camera technology is just not ready for prime-time. It seems that we have the newest screen-increasing technology: the screen hole.

Not long ago, we discussed what Twitter user Ice Universe was calling the future of screen technology with the screen hole. Rather than notch out the top of the screen, this screen would leave an opening in the screen for the camera while the rest of the front would just be a normal screen. While it seemed to simply be a rumor at the time, the announcement of Samsung's Infinity-O display all but confirmed that they were viewing this as the future of screens until the all-screen phone could be launched. Some report that this is indeed the screen that will be on a new Galaxy device next year, and now, it appears Huawei will follow suit.
With this new teaser image officially released, we now have almost-official confirmation that at least two of the biggest mobile manufacturers in the world see this as the logical next step for increasing screen real estate. Huawei has confirmed that the image is indeed official and authentic with more information to be released on December 3. While the device may not be totally bezel-less (remember Lenovo?), it does suggest that notches have reached the end of their life-cycle for Huawei.
