The seemingly most loved Android Wear (now WearOS) of all time is still getting some love, but that may not be a good thing after all.

The Huawei Watch, which I happily still use despite some pretty substantial burn-in, seems to have been welcomed in to the new WearOS family receiving the WearOS v2.17 update which includes the new user interface and touch-interaction. Despite being over three years old, the original Huawei Watch is still considered the pinnacle of WearOS design with its classical look and favorable size. Nonetheless, it is still surprising to see a WearOS watch this far in to its life cycle receiving a completely updated experience.
In addition to the Huawei Watch, it appears that the Huawei Watch 2 has received the update which includes a new navigation style as well as under-the-hood improvements. However, as 9to5google reports, which I too can confirm, the update seems to have had a negative impact on battery life. Even with its age, the Huawei Watch used to manage a full work-day (roughly 10 hours) and still be close to 30%, but after 7 hours yesterday, the watch was already sitting at 12%. This could just be a one-off occurrence, but it is worth noting for those that were happy to see some love and freshness on the O.G. Watch.
