If you have not been paying attention, there is a big sale happening right now! Okay, so you cannot afford it, but it is certainly worth paying attention. Fox is selling off a significant portion of its assets, and that could mean big things for Marvel geeks across the globe.
Avengers, assemble!
The sale of assets currently under review would split Fox in to two entities. New Fox would retain control of Fox News, Fox Broadcasting (FS1, FS2, Fox) and Fox Business; unfortunately, that means a new owner would not be able to stop the ridiculousness of Laura Ingraham or the unintelligible babble of Tomi Lahren. However, the other entity (the entity being sold) would consist of 21st Century Fox, FX, National Geographic, and a majority stake in Hulu.
Recently, a bidding war broke out between Comcast and (you guessed it) Disney for the second entity. After an initial $50+ million all stock offer from Disney was trumped by a $60+ million cash offer from Comcast, Disney came back with a $70+ million offer including the option of cash or stock up to 50%.
Now for those that don't know or are not following along, Disney currently owns Marvel featuring the Marvel Cinematic Universe ( and a beautiful featuring deal with Sony for Spider-man), and 21st Century Fox owns Fantastic Four and the X-men (plus Deadpool). So, when you put them together, you start to realize that we may soon have a future in which Wolverine is an Avenger and the Fantastic Four are in a movie that is not a complete dumpster fire.

Yes folks. Our lifelong wish of seeing the Hulk partner with Wolverine and Deadpool establish a bromance with Spider-man could soon come to fruition. Now, the deal still needs to be approved and pass review, but if everything goes to plan, we may be able to convince Hugh Jackman that there is no way he can hang up the claws just yet; he has a few more battles to fight.
