The connection between Microsoft's two biggest names, Xbox and Windows, is about to get a whole lot greater. It appears that Microsoft's Netflix-style game streaming service Xbox Game Pass will be coming to the PC.
With an ever-changing library of 100+ games for only $9.99 per month, Xbox Game Pass has been a major booster to not only Xbox marketshare, but also to Microsoft's bottom-line. Additionally, Microsoft bolstered the service in the past year by including all in-house titles (Halo, Forza, Gears of War) on launch day. Now, Microsoft will look to appeal to an even bigger audience.
According to Windows Central, Satya and company plan to bring the subscription service to the PC allowing gamers on either service access to the featured games. While console gaming has certainly dominated both the market and the public consciousness, PC gaming is still the preferred platform for many gamers due to the ability to create custom rigs with A+ graphics. It appears Microsoft is determined to get a slice of the action as Windows is still the dominant operating system for game developers.
It remains to be seen how this service will be incorporated in to Windows as the obvious choice, the Windows Store, is not exactly a go-to service for PC gamers. However, regardless of how it is included, there is no denying the value for PC gamers. By subscribing on the service, gamers would be able to play the game on either device.
