Never underestimate the power of a good book and a great story

Great and new technology can do many things. It can change the world, change perspectives, and/or simply make one life a little easier. However, as much as l love reading about the advances we make as a society, there is no piece of technology that can quite catch the attention of a good book.
Now, am I saying that technology is absent from the book world? Of course not. Tablets and e-readers have changed the landscape of what it means to actually read a book. Removing the needs to visit libraries and carry around pounds of papers, tools such as iPads and Kindles have made reading as accessible and convenient as it has ever been. However, these devices aren't the reason people started to read; they are simply tools people use.

The real power of books is in the words it contains. A good author can create an entire world that is so enthralling that you can be completely lost in it, and that is just using the words we all use on a daily basis. Can something such as a computer and word processor make it easier to put those words to paper? Absolutely, which makes technology a wonderful tool for a good author...but it certainly doesn't create the story.
I love the idea of society continuing to make groundbreaking discovery after discovery, and I think the future looks bright if we continue to advance with new technological advances every day. However, regardless of how far we advance in terms of film-making, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, et cetera, there will never be a replacement for the power of a good storyteller to envelope the mind with nothing but letters on a paper.
