Netflix has officially announced the cancellation of another show, and this time, its a big one. While we all probably could have seen the end coming for Iron Fist, few may have seen the hook coming for Orange is the New Black.

After seven (mostly solid) seasons, the ladies of Litchfield's story is finally coming to an end. Initially beginning as a story about Piper as she heads to prison for a small crime long-since committed, OITNB showed insight in to the lives of many characters that individuals felt they could relate with. From exploring issues such as sexuality, racism, and prison brutality, Orange is the New Black was one of those shows that was beloved by many and hated by few.
However, after seven seasons, it was nearing time to call it quits.
While I enjoyed the show for many seasons, it certainly seemed to be running low on creativity and high on staleness. After the ending of season six, it certainly seemed like they were heading toward an end. Similarly to House of Cards, which is also one of my favorite shows (ending on a completely different note), the time comes when a show has reached the end of its run; continuing on, after it has been used for all its worth, leads to shows running much longer than anyone wants them to (sorry Grey's Anatomy).
