Planning a wedding in the digital age

As anyone that has been in my shoes, meaning currently planning a wedding, will tell you, wedding planning is time consuming and stressful. Between going over themes to flowers to song choices, there are 1000 things to pick from and a limited time to do it. So, to make things easier for both my fiancee and myself, I relied on the one thing that I tend to work with best: the internet.

I am not sure how people planned weddings in the pre-digital age, but I can assure you that shit is so much easier when you put your faith in the internet to help out. As a ridiculously organized person with OCD, there is nothing better than a well-structured spreadsheet to track everything from budgets to guest lists to checklists, You like some flower pieces? Put it on the spreadsheet.
Now, I know you can do most of those things without a computer with a handy thing they call a binder, but I can assure that it is much easier to see your blown budget when it auto-calculates as opposed to hand-calculating just how much extra you spend.

More than just Excel or Sheets, there are so many tools available to make things easier. With VistaPrint and Shutterfly, we were able to get a preview of our invitations before we had to put any money towards them. Custom, home-made pieces? Etsy made it easy as can be to get great things at low prices that were incredibly well made. As icing on the cake, sites like The Knot and WeddingWire make it easy to keep track of everything including creating a website for people so you don't need to track down every individual person to give them the information they need.
Is planning a wedding still stressful and time-consuming? Your damn right it is. But, technology has made it so much easier and more convenient, and I still wonder how people managed it prior to the aid of the internet. So, while planning a wedding is certainly no walk in the park, it could certainly be a hell of a lot harder,
