Stan Lee

While we tend to stick to technology news related to gadgets, gizmos, and what makes them tick, today we simply wish to stop and say: "Rest in Peace, Stan Lee". Unfortunately, the living legend and dream creator with the most movie appearances (and least lines) ever has passed away at 95.

The man most synonymous with the Marvel brand, and the one everyone really goes to the theatre to see lived long enough to see his most famous character come home. Born in New York City in 1922, Stanley Lieber began working at Timely Comics at the age of 17. In 1941, after Captain America creators Kirby and Simon left, Lee took over as Art Director helping usher in the golden age of superheroes while simultaneously saving Marvel from irrelevance. With the success of The Fantastic Four, Lee helped bring about characters such as Hulk, Ant-Man, Black Panther, and his crowning achievement, Spider-Man.

With the introduction of Spider-Man, Lee's on-screen presence became the staple of Marvel movies all the way up to and including last month's blockbuster Venom. His imprint will be left on comics and Marvel films for years to come, not long after his hand-prints joined the ranks outside the TCL Chinese Theatre. Only a year after her departure, Stan joins his wife, Joan Lee.

Rest in Peace Stan Lee.
