Roseanne, Roseanne. Thank you for demonstrating why you should think before posting

A while back, I wrote a piece encouraging people to be mindful of their digital footprint and the things they say and do on social media. As someone who has seen some very questionable things posted online, I thought it was important to encourage others to take caution with what they share. As for those who are forced to see and hear another's ridiculous thoughts, I wrote a piece just days ago about the ability to unfollow and avoid others so that you are not forced to suffer through their farcical thoughts.

Now, imagine my delight this morning, when I happen to stumble upon article after article detailing the nonsensical and inflammatory remarks on Twitter made by this country's most obnoxious T.V. mom. For those who may not have caught up on the news this morning, Roseanne Barr decided to enjoy her Memorial Day weekend by tweeting every ridiculous thought to come through her narrow mind ranging from accusations against George Soros for surrendering Jews to the Nazis to Chelsea Clinton marrying the crooked son of a senator; for good measure, she even decided to toss in a comment comparing an African-American professional woman to a mixture between primates and Muslims saying, "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj” (tweet is now deleted).

For most of us, these tweets would pretty much be career suicide, but I will not even delve in to ABC's silence at this point.* More importantly, I would like to commend Roseanne for not only being completely transparent in her thoughts for the first time, but for also managing to catapult herself toward the top of the list of the most deranged assholes on the planet in just a few days.

But seriously, what the hell were you thinking?

Most of America is well aware of your beliefs, but at what point did you think it was a good idea to just go completely off the rails? You want to make racist comments? More power to you, but as a public figure, you may want to find a more private forum. You don't like Chelsea Clinton? Great, join the others that hate the Clintons, but probably should not declare it by comparing her to another figure you dislike (backtracking and then going after her father-in-law was a nice touch by the way). I also appreciated the icing on the cake which was reigniting the "Pizza-gate" theory because that led to such great things before.

Remember, be mindful of what you put out there; you are certainly allowed to be a horrible person, but that doesn't mean we all want to hear about it. For those who may follow someone who likes to post or share things like this, you know where to find that unfollow button. And for Roseanne, on the bright side, your favorite person's inability to think before posting may help take some heat off of you.
