Samsung, via the breaking news platform that is Twitter, teased late last week that they may unveil their long-awaited foldable device.
The seemingly next evolution in smartphones (other than full-screen) is the folding phone. Huawei has already confirmed they are working on a 5G foldable device, and Microsoft has been talking about Andromeda for years. However, it appears Samsung, the maker of the flexible OLED, will be first to unveil at least a prototype.
While the profitability of such devices remains to be seen, it does appear that public interest is certainly sky-high. In 2012, Samsung released a concept video of how the foldable device would look and function, and many have speculated this could be the rumored Samsung Galaxy X.
We will have to wait until their developer conference on November 7-8 to see what Samsung has to offer, but this could certainly be the moment where, as Samsung says, the "Now Meets Next". In reality, it will also be, like fashion, where the past comes back to the future with foldable devices; maybe that new Razr is not just a crazy idea.
