Another day, another Chinese phone manufacturer releasing an almost-all screen phone with no notch.
Xiaomi, designer of the camera below the screen phones, has released the Mi Mix 3 which features an excellent 6.4" OLED screen with no notch in-sight. To avoid the infamous notch, as well as avoid a mechanical camera module of Oppo or Vivo, Xiaomi has taken design back to the early 2000's. The Mi Mix 3 features a two piece body design that allows the front camera to sit behind the screen until it needs to be used; at that point, the front portion slides down to reveal the front-facing camera.

Xiaomi believes this will avoid the long-term damage that a mechanical slider could obtain as well as avoid the pricey repair that would accompany it. The design is very reminescent of phones such as the Samsung Sway that, when slid open, would reveal a camera (albeit on the back as well as exposing the keyboard).
In addition to the unique screen/front camera design, the Mi Mix 3 also features many of the characteristics of a 2018 flagship including a Snapdragon 845, 6GB of RAM, and multiple rear cameras. However, the Mi Mix 3 will start with 128GB of storage and can be maxed out to 256GB (as well as 10GB of RAM); they will also include a 10W wireless charger in the box.
Unfortunately, like unique Oppo FindX and Vivo Nex as well as the amazing Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the Mi Mix 3 will not be available for purchase in the United States so do not expect to walk in to Best Buy to pick up one of these exciting, non-Google/Apple/Samsung devices.
